The Conjuring 2 (2016) Movie Reaction – First Time Watching!
Introduction
The Conjuring 2 is a 2016 horror movie directed by James Wan, and is the sequel to the 2013 film, The Conjuring. Having heard about the film’s reputation for being absolutely terrifying, I finally decided to watch it for the first time. Here are my thoughts and reactions as I experienced The Conjuring 2 for the very first time.
The Plot
The movie is set in Enfield, London, in 1977, and follows the story of the Hodgson family who experience supernatural phenomena in their home. Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators, are called to help the family and uncover the truth behind the haunting.
The Atmosphere
From the very beginning, the film sets a chilling and eerie atmosphere that manages to keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. The use of sound effects and visuals creates a sense of dread and unease, which really adds to the overall experience of watching the movie.
The Jump Scares
The Conjuring 2 is filled with jump scares that will leave your heart racing. The timing and execution of these scares are incredibly well-done, and they certainly succeeded in catching me off guard multiple times.
- The scene in the basement had me jumping out of my seat.
- The painting on the wall coming to life was a particularly effective scare.
- The use of silence before the scare hits really heightened the tension.
The Performances
The performances from the cast were exceptional, especially from Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson who play Ed and Lorraine Warren. Their on-screen chemistry and portrayal of the Warrens added a layer of authenticity to the story, making it much more engaging and believable.
The Visuals
The visual effects and cinematography in The Conjuring 2 are top-notch. The way the supernatural entities are depicted on screen is both terrifying and mesmerizing. The attention to detail in creating these haunting visuals really adds to the overall horror experience.
- The crooked man’s appearance was truly spine-chilling.
- The scenes where the children are tormented by the entity were visually stunning and terrifying at the same time.
- The use of lighting and shadows added an extra layer of dread to the scenes.
The Storyline
The storyline of The Conjuring 2 keeps you engaged from start to finish. The way the narrative unfolds and the mysteries surrounding the haunting kept me guessing and theorizing about what could possibly be causing the supernatural occurrences in the Hodgson home.
The Conclusion
In conclusion, The Conjuring 2 is an incredibly well-crafted horror movie that delivers intense scares, a gripping storyline, and memorable performances. As a first-time viewer, I can confidently say that it lived up to its reputation as one of the scariest films in recent years. If you’re a fan of horror movies that will leave you sleeping with the lights on, then this is a must-watch.

We have more horror reactions on the way
We hope you all enjoy!
Insidious next or purge reactions !
i just noticed there is an easter egg for the demon's name at 21:08. the V on the love sign on the wall is larger than the other letters and then ALAK are below it to the right on the wood. you caught another at 26:48.
Great movie but unfortunately Ed and Lorraine were only there for a day. They showed up uninvited and didn’t do much. The Amityville has been debunked completely by the attorney of the people who lived there following the crimes. They came up with an idea to write a book about made up hauntings. But…good movie content anyway.
Wow that one guy sniffed it out from the beginning. He knew the name!
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson's chemistry and portrayal of Ed and Lorraine is really the heart of these movies. Amidst all this scary stuff happening it's just a beautiful love story. Btw, if you're going to watch the whole franchise a fun fact is that Vera Farmiga's sister Taissa Farmiga plays the lead in The Nun movies.
This movie takes place six years after the first one and it is LOOSELY based on the Warrens' investigation of the Enfield poltergeist. The real-life events became the longest recorded paranormal case of poltergeist activity in history. Some have claimed that the real Janet Hodgson was a gifted ventriloquist or had the power to manipulate voices, and she admitted to faking about 2% of the events. People from The Society of Psychical Research in England researched this case long before the Warrens, moved into the house at one point and investigated this case for over a year. The Warrens only stayed for a couple of days. The remaining living members of the Hodgson family visited the set. Frances O'Connor, who portrays the mum, refused to meet them as she feared it would affect her performance.
The case the Warrens are investigating in the beginning is their most famous and documented case: The Amityville horror. The boy ghost Lorraine sees is based on the infamous photo supposedly taken by Gene Campbell, a professional photographer who worked with the Warrens.
The name of the demon nun "VALAK" is shown in the background in the Warren house numerous times: Along the kitchen window in colorful cutout letters right behind Ed, along the edge of the wood kitchen counter in raised letters to Lorraine's right and when she's standing at the sink, on the bookshelf when Lorraine is reading The Bible in large wooden letters and on the bracelet Judy is making.
Besides the painting of the Nun there is also a painting of a farmhouse in the woods with a creepy tree in the foreground. It's the Perron family farmhouse from the first movie.
The third Conjuring movie is considered not as good as the first two but it has more of a mystery/thriller feel to it rather than horror. A fourth one is in production. A movie centering The Crooked Man was officially in development, but James Wan stated that it was shelved for reason out of his control but hopes for a future release.
I’m ENGLISH and live couple roads up from green street near London I’m from uk and the music at beginning is THE CLASH there English one band from my country and I’m not far from the house on green street in Enfield
I remember watching this movie alone on the phone and wearing earphones and screaming until my mother scolded me and said "are you crazy to suddenly scream like you're being chased by something"????

Here comes my useless knowledge..
..The Clash song played at the beginning of the film would not be released until a year after the events in this film take place..
..the actor who plays Janet is an American.. She did an amazing job for a child with the accent..
..the demon/s sometimes manifests differently in the form of each characters fears, ie as in for Billy seeing the crooked man. That's why it appears so cartoon- ish because we are seeing it through a child's eyes..frame rate reminds me of the babadook movie..
..think I read that Vera Farmiga damaged her vocal chords so much from screaming that she had to have surgery..
..a couple of "The Exorcist" homages I noticed were the shaking beds, and the dresser sliding towards the mom, like the wardrobe in the exorcist..
"Why is Bill so powerful?"
"It's his house." Lol look
Finally, Corey was right about the letters spelling Valak on the bookshelves..they are also spelled on the kitchen wall in the previous scene at about 21.05 in this video..
..and are also spelled out on the block letters on the bracelet Judy is crafting in the scene before the scene with the Nun in Ed's study..
XO
why do I keep looking at Corey lol
The Nun movies goes into details about Valak. The 2nd one connects everything.
I enjoyed this reaction! I hope you guys continue to watch the rest of the movies ?
Every Horror movie is Nightmare on Elm Street or Halloween. Those two became the repeats forever.
Funny enough, the name Valak is teased repeatedly throughout the movie. Even when Lorraine's daughter is making the bracelet, the ones on the counter spell its name as well. Good movie and a good reaction video!
Sadly the following films do not hold up to the first two outside of Annabelle Creation I'd say. Either way looking forward to seeing more.
Excellence! I highly recommend "Annabelle Creation", "Annabelle" and "Annabelle Comes home"! all three are a total blast!. the first option is a bone chiller! Cheers!✌️❤️❤️????
Ed Warren passed before the movies were made. So he had no input on these movies. Vera Farmiga spent time with the real Lorraine so Lorraine had some input before she passed. But they are loosely based on the files Ed Warren kept of the cases they worked on. People in the paranormal field loved Ed and Lorraine and they were considered experts in their field, including by the Catholic Church, so this is pretty much how people viewed them. As the movies progress, the franchise took over and made them much less "based on actual events" but the Conjuring 1 to 3 include more from the case files, photos, sound files, and films.
After the 3rd conjuring, you guys have to get into the nun and annabelle franchise. Loved the reaction though♡.
Checked Another conjuring universe movies. Ik some of them is not great but i hope you give it try.
Next is AnnaBella
Hahaha, Corey getting scared made me laugh, great reaction guys ❤️?
your reaction is amazing guys. This movie is much better specially the crooked man scene was terrifying. the first conjuring was also scary & I'm happy that you gave your reaction on this movie ?❤
The line : "Those are my pipes" Crack me out ?
By the way !
I love your horror reaction.
This film is loosely based on a claimed, real-life haunting in Enfield, nr London, and has another TV interest in it, called The Enfield Haunting, based at 284 Green St, Enfield. On Google Maps, the front of this house is blocked from viewing, and the house has no door number reference on mapping either. Ironically, I used to work for a firm that had a depot nearby, only about one mile away from this address, and I knew nothing about it at the time. I no longer work for that company, and they have closed that depot since anyway.
why dont you have the screen up all the time and why does it keep dissepearing?
Yes!???
I’m begging you guys ? please watch the Witch (2015) Robert Eggers film! Great content!!
Y'all gotta react to the nun and the nun 2 it's soooo good and terrifying
I don't think the order really matters. There are connections–it is "The Conjuring" universe–but I think I would stick with what you are doing now by keeping them separate: The Nun, Annabelle, The Conjuring. You'll find the tie-ins as you go. Fun, aren't they?
ed and lorraine my horror parents!
Finalllyyyyy !!!!!???
Just to let you know, demons and spirits are two different kinds.
The beginning is based on the amityville movies
I love all the conjurings. They all have their own different thing. We got the witch in the 1st one, demon using Bill as a pawn in 2, and 3 is more of an investigating paranormal case. Love them all equally. If we are talking about jump scares alone. It's 2 for me. 1st one got me good the first time i watched it, but 2 still give me chills everytime i watch it. Yes. I rewatch these movies ever so often. ? 2 still gives me chills today. I feel like 2 is more creative with the scary/creepy scenes too. With Janet slowly turing into Bill, the connection of Bill's message on the tape, and the nun going into the painting. Top notch.
The nun is terrifying in other movies but suck in her own. In her own movies, she’s just stands there and used other demons to do her work. I rather they just make a movie about the other demons
Can you react to the movie malum
It's a reboot of the last shift but it's literally the same director, author and producer just on a bigger budget and it's a pretty good scare and very demonic there's no reactions I can find on YouTube…??♂️
Check out Insidious if you haven’t seen them yet!
