We can't judge this show tell its comes out but this change is annoying because it misunderstands why characters have flaws in the first place. Sokka growth from annoying teen to "I drink respect women juice for breakfast". Teaching young men to not judge women based on cultural standard of strength. Based as fuck. Avatar being peak as usual.
With the sokka thing there is definitely a way to do it in away where they play up his arrogance with the kyoshi warriors and have him be low-key with his sexism until he's has an outburst. I'm probably giving them too much credit but it wouldn't be that hard to do .
With the creator's leaving I'm not sure it's because they had massive issues with it because paramount gave them a studio just for new avatar projects a few months later so it just seems like making their own stuff would be a more compelling to them.
Dammit! I missed the stream! On top of that you talked about one of my most hated movies of the last decade, "The Circle". As someone who has MS, I did appreciate the way her dad was portrayed. Except for him not being able to get treatments. Due to it being a disability, we get Medicare. While not perfect, they have your back on getting access to the SUPER expensive drugs prescribed to treat it. On top of that. If you're on SSDI, you qualify for assistance from the manufacturers. I get infusions twice a year at $35K a pop. That's $70 grand a year. Once a year I have to talk to the company's advocate. They ask me one question. "Do I make less than $75K a year?" I do not. So the drug is free. No co-pay or anything. Free. My first infusion was before I knew about the program. My prescription drug plan hit me with a $3500 copay. If you're disabled & on some ridiculously priced medicine, see if they have a patient assistance program
What has me more worried than anything is that I didn’t see the same kind of musical brilliance in the trailer that I saw in the show.
Music was a huge part of ATLAs storytelling and seeing it possibly excluded is making me nervous on whether or not these people know what they're doing.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks taking away Sokka's sexism is a crime against his character. He grew up trying to live up to his fathers legacy, was surrounded by strong men who also incorrectly treated women poorly in their society, which we can see with Pakku and how he treats Katara when she's learning waterbending. He got called out on his sexism all the time, and finally Kyoshi and the Warriors opened his eyes to how wrong he was. That's called character growth and development. Taking that from Sokka is the same as taking Zuko's daddy issues and conflicting loyalties away. If you take away their flaws, they have nothing to overcome and better themselves for.
0:30 I watched another trash Netflix movie
15:50 Netflix thinks Sokka is too sexist for ATLAB
