I really disliked the film. It's just too much and tonally all over the place. The story, dialogue, CGI and green screen was just sloppy. All the twists and turns were so silly and eventually very predictable. Matthew Vaughn needs to take some time off and get out of the spy genre for a while. Thanks for the review!
My guy! I enjoyed this film! It was crazy and over the top, but I was here for it! I had a great experience because they created an escape from reality and still keep me wondering about the direction of the film in a low-key slapstick comedy sort of way. I was locked in with Sam Rockwell, and he kept me laughing as the film progressed. I don't feel like it was anything more than what it was, but I was entertained, my friend. Keep up the great work, Austin! ?????
I saw it yesterday and I loved every second of the movie. It is a spy spoof, it is a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously, and it is very good at that. Convoluted? No, people complain about everything now, they cannot pay attention to anything for more than 40 minutes. It is a great movie , entertaining and well acted and directed . It is coming to my physical media collection without any doubt. The only disappointment for me was Henry Cavill only appears in a supporting role.
Yeah this one was a disappointment for sure. Vaughn has shown he can deliver great cinematic experiences in the past, but the tone and pacing were a mess here. Rockwell carried. Great thoughts as always, AB!
If it was meant to be a serious spy movie, it was a complete misfire. If it was meant to be a parody, it was also a misfire. Did anyone actually resd the script?
I enjoyed it a ton. The first two acts were really good. The last act… went off the rails and got too silly and broke its tone. Sam Rockwell was great. It was hilarious too. I just don’t get the hate for the film except over the top third act and the lengthy final action sequences. There are far worse movies than this. How does it have the same RT score as G.I. Joe???
This is not my least favourite Vaughn (it’s not as terrible as golden circle was) but it’s really the worst film all of these actors are in. It’s such a mess. Matthew Vaughn has always been messy, but now he is senile too
I think John Wick ruined me. Every action scene seems to be sub par in comparison. And I hate the stylized violence. In Suicide Squad and Harley Quinn scene, at least I can understand the over the top craziness. The smoke bomb scene is just silly. The skating in oil – she is 100% clean while she is sliding on the oil?
And the writing and the dialogue between the 2 leads were boring before all the plot twist begins…
The last 2 Kingsman sequels were pretty forgettable. Like the first Kick Ass, first Kingsman and X-Men First Class, that is about it.
Personally I loved it. It was over the top and ridiculous but that is exactly what it was advertised as being. It definitely seems like most of the audience in my cinema seemed to like it so perhaps it is just a critics vs audience thing for this film, which happens and there is nothing wrong with that
Not sure why all my fav movie reviewers are whining about it It was enjoyable "Convoluted" was acting like it was so confusing to follow… it wasn't Just a dumb fun enjoyable movie It was fine
I think it was enjoyable, i liked it, but it was 20 minutes longer it needed to be.(even 30 maybe) Sam Rockwell is awesome so is Cranston, Sam jackson and all the cast actually. Too many twists and fake endings. Spoiler:the grenade launcher smoke scene is hilarious, absolutely amazing. A little shorter and its an amazing spy movie. Alfie the cat is the GOAT
The people who said Cavil was in it for 5 minutes were just exaggerating because they're mad he wasn't the main character. He's in it enough imo. Movie's really great and the action while a tad repetitive is still pretty damn close to (non church scene) Kingsman level. It's got flaws but people WAY overblew them
I went into it with low expectations (even though I like Vaughn), the trailers just did nothing for me, but I ended up having a blast honestly. Not amazing, no, the script is very flawed, but the movie enjoyable, I just turned my brain off and enjoyed good chemistry between the leads and the super stylized action. The third act is wild lol.
I saw this today and could not wait for it to end. I purposely avoided trailers and did not know the twist. Even with that “surprise” it was not entertaining.
Hey Austin, very good points all throughout your review. Question, do you think the film felt more like a parody of an espionage film versus an actual espionage film? Thats where I landed after watching it.
This movie is completely tweaking the nose of the Broccolis who own Bond. I can’t believe all of the Easter eggs and meta references. If you didn’t read the book and didn’t listen to the interviews with Matthew Vaughn then you won’t get it. Once you see it you can’t unsee it.
Another way to cram in actors who has a steady loving fanbase – but actually – it's more CGI! May be the 'extra long loops' in scenes indicate the "blockbuster" was worthy of its budget…the "plan" in 'franchise' opportunities – only for loyal fans…??
Kick ass is one of my favorite films of all time, so I can’t wait for this one! Have u seen kickass? I also think people forget Vaughn directed X-men first class, which is my favorite X-men movie.
The special effects are mind-blowing. It's like watching a blockbuster movie right on my screen.?
The last scene was… a lot
While the movie has a lot of Chaotic energy, it's surprisingly enjoyable, and the cast looked like they had a blast during filming.

Great Review Austin and I really enjoyed this movie it is a lot of fun for me

Argylle is another Kingsmen ?

It's definitely ridiculous. But boy is it fun.
Cat.

It was very stupid but it was fun, I had a good time

Whats with the glasses man?

Loved this movie! It's exactly my kind of over the top
Kingsmen 2 is the worst movie for this director. Kingsmen is the best
I am going save my ??for Bob Marley One Love Austin. This movie sounds like its trying to be another Kingsman ??
The people who said Cavil was in it for 5 minutes were just exaggerating because they're mad he wasn't the main character. He's in it enough imo. It was already spoiled all over the internet.
For once I think Argylle is The Best and Most Well Made movie to come out after multiple years of poorly made movies!??
I went into it with low expectations (even though I like Vaughn), the trailers just did nothing for me, but I ended up having a blast honestly. I LOVED about 1/3 of it. The other 2/3rds? Not so much.
Great review!
For a great action comedy with Sam Rockwell, see Mr. Right (with Anna Kendrick). Rockwell elevates pretty much anything he is in.
This film caught my attention because it was the first time I thought Henry Cavill was ugly in a film.
Don't like the glasses. Distracting.
I saw this today and could not wait for it to end. I purposely avoided trailers and did not know the twist. Even with that “surprise” it was not entertaining.
This was such an enjoyable movie, and a fun ride from beginning to end ^_^.
Hey Austin, very good points all throughout your review. Question, do you think the film felt more like a parody of an espionage film versus an actual espionage film? Thats where I landed after watching it.
first of all, that's what she said— Austin Burke
Least favorite Matthew Vaughn movie? Definitely this one. Easily.
My favorite is actually "Stardust", followed pretty closely by the first "Kingsman".
Austin, you suck! How dare you NOT like something we like –2024 YouTube commenter ???
