When you mentioned the Jamaican dancehall scene I was expecting you to show a clip of a guy flying down from a speaker onto a woman's crotch. ? But yeah, the dancehall scene has been a meme for at least the past 10 years.
Yeah hate to break it to ya gen Zers but diversity isn't new. Can't really speak about gen X but as a millennial no one really cared about race / religion or sex people had in the 90s and 00s. Actually remember a dude came out as gay when I was in highschool in the 2000s and I was okay that's cool.
This coulda been a monster/alien movie review: Deformed characters; 10:21 skin-suit ain't know how to move correctly; Ain't none o'them dudes look like they belong on Planet Earth ?
Yeah people act like any time before the past 10 years everyone was homophobic or something. Nah there’s been beloved gay characters and celebrities since like the 60s. Openly anyways.
Even with your glowing endorsement I won’t watch the movie but I will happily tag along listening to you cackling like a deranged chimpanzee anytime ?❤
Have you seen "National Lampoon's Animal House" from 1978?
Apparently it was the first collage film.
"The year is 1962. The Student Union in Delta House is a disgrace to Faber College, and Principal Wormer (John Vernon) has had enough. His plan is to keep a close watch on the least party-loving students and make sure they get kicked out of the school for good. But what good are tougher rules against a gang that has a complete lack of respect for authority. The only Delta Gang wants to do is party – so a counterattack is launched to defend this lifestyle. And you just can't win against these guys."
There's an '80s movie called "My Science Project" that I wish you would cover it some day. It's such a perfect blend of Sci-Fi, cheese, and fun, and more people need to see it.
So I remember back in the day when I first learn Basic, we used to draw on the computer using commands. You had to plot every pixel and could draw a line from one point to another. So in that sense it was like an Etch a Sketch. Yeah, I don’t know what he’s typing either.
About three decades after the film's release, newer commentators have looked at the film and considered some of the scenes, particularly when Lewis pretends to be Stan and has a sexual encounter with Betty, to be rape by deception and a misogynistic remnant of a male-dominated culture of that time. William Bradley of The Mary Sue stated that after viewing the film again as an adult he "was immediately struck by the way the film plays sexual exploitation and assault for laughs". Amy Benfer of Salon wrote that the Revenge of the Nerds scene, and a similar scene in John Hughes' Sixteen Candles, were evidence that at the time of these films' productions, "people were stupid about date rape".
In an interview with GQ in 2019, director Jeff Kanew and writer Steve Zacharias expressed their regret regarding the rape by deception scene, with Kanew saying, "In a way, it's not excusable. If it were my daughter, I probably wouldn't like it".
Did Revenge of the nerds wake up Alteori to the fact that the modern media is lying about how tolerance actually worked? Yeah shit was diverse and tolerant years ago, it just wasnt forced.
I recommend Heathers with Christian Slater and Winona Ryder next. I love that movie. Also check out the film Gotcha. And Better Off Dead. That one is amazing.
You know, I could actually see this being made today. Now, to be fair to me if I am wrong, I haven't seen this movie. All I have seen is this hilarious video of it. But based on what I saw, all the villains are straight, white people that don't like people different from them while the heroes are very diverse with different skin colors, orientations, and cultures. The villains did something a particular group would do in the past and burned something on the lawn of the people they viewed as different, and an all-black fraternity are only ones that would accept the heroes.
Man, there are so many 80s comedy movies you need to check out. Some have already been mentioned in the comments but to add to them: Better Off Dead, One Crazy Summer (it also has the guy who plays Booger) the Police Academy movies. And definitely the fantasy movie Legend. Legend isn't a comedy, it just has Tom Cruise and unicorns.
11:41 The tapir was killed. 2001: A Space Odyssey was filmed before the whole, "no animals were harmed" was a thing in movies. Plus, there wasn't a humane society monitoring films, and it was totally legal to kill an animal for a film at that time. The animal killed in Apocalypse Now was actually killed, and there is a film called "Night of the Lepus," which is about giant killer rabbits. The close up shots of rabbits being shot were real rabbits being shot for the film.
That camera was old and outdated even when this came out in 1983. My mom had that model from when she was a teenager in the 50s. I think it was called a Kodak Brownie. We had a disk camera from Kodak when this was made and it was modern looking enough that you wouldn't think about it if you saw one today.
About the burning thing you mentioned, I think I may know what that's based on, but it's a BIG stretch, and I'm not even sure whether it was done before or after this. There was an old TV show in the '70's, The Waltons, took place in the Great Depression era. In the later seasons, there was an episode taking place around the rise of…you-know-who, where a rock was thrown through the window. But again, BIG stretch, if I'm wrong, cool. It was a really notable moment.

“ We got bush “
I want that on my tombstone.

24:10 wtf alteori, you CANNOT just throw that nightmare fuel in there.
its night time, that shit was a jumpscare ?
These nerds look 40 y.o. lol
Yeah people act like any time before the past 10 years everyone was homophobic or something. Nah there’s been beloved gay characters and celebrities since like the 60s. Openly anyways.
17:37 LMAAAOOOOOO WHAT IS THAT LOOK CALLED
Next watch Screwballs and Porkeys
Real cultural stuff.
I love your husband.
Even with your glowing endorsement I won’t watch the movie but I will happily tag along listening to you cackling like a deranged chimpanzee anytime ?❤
Lamar was in another movie called Fear of a black hat, where he played a straight, gangsta rapper.
You HAVE to watch Sixteen Candles
They use the antique camera and the old-fashioned trunk because it shows that they aren't hip and "with the times!"
I love ve revenge of the nerds!
You gotta watch Porkys next
He Alteori!

22:27 it's times like this i suddenly think about how both actors no tonly rehearsed this but agreed to it ?
I know it’s weird but people just looked older back then.
Yeah, even back then we knew people danced unreasonably bad in movies.????
You mean 2001: A Space Odyssey from 1968

Found this on wikipedia about the movie
CONTROVERSY

It was like the “Avengers, assemble!” of nerd stereotypes. Lack of diversity in the past…there was probably more, I might argue.
Did Revenge of the nerds wake up Alteori to the fact that the modern media is lying about how tolerance actually worked?
Yeah shit was diverse and tolerant years ago, it just wasnt forced.
Movies in the '80s were the best.
Extrovert here. I used to host poker parties. Yes we party like this. It’s how we cope with our internal misery lol ?
Isn't that Lizzie Mcguire's dad?
I recommend Heathers with Christian Slater and Winona Ryder next. I love that movie. Also check out the film Gotcha. And Better Off Dead. That one is amazing.
Revenge Of The Nerds is one of the most quintessential movies of 1984 and the entire decade of the 80’s!
You know, I could actually see this being made today. Now, to be fair to me if I am wrong, I haven't seen this movie. All I have seen is this hilarious video of it. You need to watch Mannequin.
This movie is so inappropriate, so bad, so stupid, it’s amazing you should also check out The Hollywood Knights that’s another great movie
you made me want to watch this movie because I only previously saw memes now I want to watch the real thing.
Every one in that movie will be on coke and not the drink
The people and diversity are generally accurate, though this movie definitely takes it to an absolute extreme.
Anyway, you HAVE to watch Blazing Saddles! You will DIE!
Is there gonna be a part 2?

I hope you know Louis (Robert Carradine) is Lizzie McGuire's dad!

That "horrible" music is DEVO. I don't know, Alteori, we might have to revoke your NERD license.
