Ash doesn't like this movie because it triggered something deep down inside of him that he was trying to suppress and he doesn't want to admit it. Hannah's bath water is on the menu now.
I wish this kind of lurid, cynical trash would go away forever. With the world being as ugly as it is lately, we could use more films that tell inspiring stories with good upstanding characters. I know that kind of thing was corny for a while, but I think it needs a resurgence to help shift the culture in a better direction.
Visually this movie is stunning and the actors did amazing. However I absolutely hated it. It takes itself too seriously and tries to have psychological depth but, unironically has nothing new to say and no point at all. Did we really need another movie/TV show about a mentally ill white man that kills people ? Can we put this trope to rest please. Saltburn is a stale, unoriginal, and generic retelling of The Talented Mr. Ripley, Netflix’s 2022 Jeffery Dahmer series and You Season 4 ???
The entire movie has elements of occult ritual. The eating of spnk/blood/bathwater-filth. The lies, the sex, the absolutely immoral debauchery. Ash feels like the movie is being "done to him" because it is, the audience is being exposed and desensitized to witchery.
The movie was derivative of other better made films. But it captures a look a time and a badass soundtrack…. and a fat c#$k. Watch The Talented Mr Ripley instead
When I initially watched this film I both liked and was iffy on it. My initial main issue was pacing, Once the reveal happened until the end of the film that was my favorite part. The rest felt slower, and more drawn out in comparison. Which is odd for me because indie and Horror films are my favorite and it's even better if it's an Indie Horror film, so I tend to enjoy slower films when most people usually don't. And THOSE scenes did feel more like they were added for shock factors sake as Ash mentioned.
After watching other reactions to the film and explanations/ reviews from many sources, including the actors themselves. I rewatched it and enjoyed it more like Hannah, my second time around.
And yes people vote for this film just to watch others' reactions to THOSE scenes. There literally was a trend of people making their parents watch this film and recording their reactions to it. THOSE scenes are precisely why everyone was talking about it and recommending others to watch it, like it's a secret right of passage. I promise I didn't vote for you all to watch it, as soon as I hear that this film won people's polls to react to it, everyone knows exactly why.
Lastly, I love how a majority of people mention Midsommar when reacting to this film when Archie Madkwe (Farleigh) was Simon in Midsommar lol And Barry Keoghan (Oliver) wore the antlers as a nod to his breakout role in The Killing of a Sacred Deer. I think you both might enjoy that more than this film, honestly. I promise you it isn't as graphic as this film.
To end my comment on a positive and wholesome note for you, Archie Madkwe's favorite scenes to do were the karaoke scenes, the actors did karaoke when they weren't filming to bond with one another.
Hey there ? listen to the artists, The Midnight, Kalax, Gunship, FM-84, Ollie Wride, Timecop 1983, Miami Nights 1984, Cadenti, Flairover and NewRetroWave! 80's feel good Synthwave music! ??❤
YASSSSSS!!! Yall always deliver. I really recommend you two watch Damsel. I think Hannah would love it. Millie Bobby Brown plays the main protagonist and it’s amazing. ??
I agree with Ash. It was a boring movie. And if those scenes weren’t in the movie it wouldn’t have gotten any traction. It just would have been another forgettable movie that no one would have paid any attention to.
You should really watch “The Gift” from 2000. With Cate Blanchett, Hilary Swank, Keanu Reeves. That’s a banger of a movie.m
And “Frality” with Matthew McConaughey and Bill Paxton. Amazing
Those are movies actually made for you both to react to.
Ash and Hannah perfectly showed the two spectrums of reaction to this movie haha. Both have interesting points of view!i died laughing at the bath water scene and Ash laughing so hard. Its always a good time when Ash claps while laughing ? Actually, crazy enough, the bathtub scene and grave scene i believe were improvised/thought up by the actor in character, they werent scripted,he did what he felt right for the character and they kept it. The grave scene specifically was a surprise because it was improvised on the spot while filming.
It makes no sense saying it was only about shock factor and the compare it to Texas Chainsaw Massacre, that movie is filled with shock factor. Ash, I don't think it's a fair review when you were disinterested from the very beginning, running away looking up the plot-line before watching the rest. I think you lost a lot of the dialoge and the acting performance, it was clear when Hannah said Olly had figured out about Venitia's ED by himself, then I knew you weren't paying attention. The mother told Olly that information. Hannah, you should watch it again alone with out any distractions. ☺ I think the movie is brilliant!
I’m with Hannah here??♂️It was interesting to see how much the character of Oliver made Ash despise him and the whole movie. Really unexpected, but I guess he pressed on some precise nerve for Ash. Loved the movie myself and thought that it had a LOT of substance in it to enjoy from.
React to PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS with Will Smith pleaseee, it’s one of his best performances in his career and his actual son Jayden is in it. Oscar worthy acting.
Don’t worry Hannah I also get really excited about some Henry VIII or any Tudor lore for that matter ? I feel like The Other Boleyn Girl would be right up your alley if you haven’t already seen it
This is one of my fave reactions you have done ha ha! I know it sucked Ash, but the debate and the extremely different reactions is really good to watch! this one i knew would be great for the different points of view.
Y’all should watch the talented Mr ripley. It’s the og version of this movie
I don't know how Ash didn't like it, it was funny and erotic, maybe you need to read more dark romance ?
MOVIE OF THE YEAR
Thank you, Ash, for your bravery and sacrifice. He really loves us, y’all.
I don’t hate the movie but I didn’t love it. The acting was great and it looked pretty. If you take out the shocking scenes the movies kinda boring. ?
guys please watch society of the snow! but watch it but watch it with the original audio it has so much emotionsss
I'm laughing so much

Worst movie you’ve ever seen. Man to be that innocent ?

This is the only way I can watch this, cringe, awful movie. I couldn't bare it when watching lol, it's even more hilarious watching you two.

You need to watch Euphoria. Same actor and insanely good crazy series.
What a disgusting movie, Ash is right it’s just gratuitous degeneracy.

Ash is spot on with the analysis of the movie, just a weird shock value movie with the trendy actors
Is anyone else here to see if Ash is selling his bath water?
